23rd Annual State Fly-in held in Hebron

This year’s fly-in was held Saturday June 6 to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the Normandy invasion on June 6, 1944. The fly-in was a great success, despite rain early in the day and much of the preceding week.

The airshow began with a parade down the runway, including 65 motorcyclists from the American Legion Riders. Two warbirds at the show were a P-40 flown by Congressman Sam Graves of Tarkio, MO and a P-51 by Larry Lumpkin, Council Bluffs, IA. Airshow performers included Jessy Panzer, Harry Barr, and Doug Roth.

During the fly-in breakfast, Dan Peterson of Omaha was presented with the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for 50 years of flying without an accident.

AOPA’s Regional Representative Yasmina Platt and Congressman Sam Graves from Tarkio, MO held a panel discussion on current FAA topics.

A USO-style show was held on Friday night, June 5, with over 300 people attending the dinner and show.
